Beach Creative

Beach Creative Community Interest Company

Beach Creative is a not-for-profit community interest company that aims to support and enable the development of creative industries in the Herne Bay district.  Beach Creative currently resides in Beach House, Sea Street, a building offered by Canterbury City Council on a temporary basis.  The venue offers competitive rentable studio space for local artists, two exhibition spaces, a chill-out area, workshop space and meeting rooms for local community groups to hire.

Beach Creative provides opportunities for the community to develop their creative skills and participate in the arts, locally, nationally and hopefully, internationally.  Gill Wilson, Access and Outreach co-ordinator at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in Canterbury, initiated the project as part of the university’s mission ‘to excel as a university for the arts which fosters creativity through local connections and global aspirations’.  Together with local artists Mandy Broughton and Mandy Troughton, they formed the community interest company in response to their collective vision for a designated arts centre in the town.
