Development

The council’s corporate plan includes culture as a means of creating the dynamic, strong economy and distinctive cultural and visitor experience from which our communities will prosper. Specifically, the plan emphasises the importance of having a range of good quality leisure and cultural facilities for the local community. These will provide opportunities for existing and new audiences to participate in culture and sport, and enhance Canterbury’s reputation as an international tourist destination.

The council’s Cultural Policy details our vision for the cultural and creative sector within the district.
