Public Liability Insurance
As a creative professional, you will need Public Liability (PL) cover if your work involves public performances, live events, workshops, residencies, open studios and public commissions. Without insurance the artist can be held personally accountable if a person becomes injured or equipment is broken. Canterbury City Council will only contract artists who have PL.
Some professional organisations and associations offer discounts on policies or provide cover as a membership benefit such as AN Air, Equity or the Musicians Union. If you are part of a studio group or organisation, it may be cheaper to get cover for the group as a whole. Generally the easiest way to access liability insurance advice and products is through a broker.
